Game Wasted by Lag

Le Panthéon ! 1

Just today, I started up a new game. I was immediately hit by massive lagging. The game would freeze by half a second to one second whenever I moved, and especially when jumping. It was so bad that I couldn't even jump over the well in the village of hammerfest. I tried closing all other windows and applications; but that didn't help. Finally, I closed the browser and started it again. Unfortunately, the game token was lost and I couldn't get back into the game. :pleure:

Is there anything I could have done differently?

I've had issues similar to this one (but not THAT bad) when I leave my PC on for too long and it sort of clogs with data and can't handle the game properly. You may restart your pc (or at least the browser) just before you start the game or you could try with learning mode to see if everything is okay.

Maybe you could also pause the game, wait and continue later hoping that it would run better. For example if you have something on your computer that updates itself in the background (e.g. an antivirus program), it should be better after this program is finished.

I sort of had the same problem, but I don't know if it was caused by lag. I had another window open while I was playing hammerfest. When I would change windows the other window would stay in the box where you would normally be playing.

ya the same thing happened to me a few days ago! its not happening anymore though so it might just have been a server problem

Server problems NEVER alter your game experience. You may not be able to access the website, start the game or save the game at the end if the server is somewhat down or with bad connection. But once you have started the game you can disconnect your PC from internet and still play.

It's all video-lag. When your PC becomes too bogged down with other apps that take up the CPU's processing time, the javascript routines suffer. Even closing down the apps that caused it in the first place can sometimes not resolve the problem.

The main culprit of this is called "memory leak".

You can try one of the free memory manager proggys out on the net to free up unused RAM when this happens. The one I use is from Finitysoft. It might help you. Give it a try at www.finitysoft.com. Proggy is called "FreeRAM".

It happened again, although less blatantly. I was having a fairly good game, when my dad suddenly had one of his "You're-my-only-son" moments, and needed to have a lunch with me IMMEDIATELY. When I got back, the animation froze whenever a bomb exploded, and sometimes for other things as well. Nothing spectacular; but enough to kill Igor in situations where he normally might have escaped. I managed to plod along for a while, but finally got Game Over on level 70.

What percentage of RAM do you recommend freeing with FinitySoft?

Thanks

If you don't have internet connection the game will try to save 3 times and after that will write the data from the game in a cookie. When you start a new game the unsaved game will save if you don't delete your cookies.

You mean, tomorrow I start a new game and that moment it will be saved?
