And here I was thinking the devs don't want to upgrade the english version because they're lazy, and all the time they were just protecting me from having to play the game that is too hard for sucky old me.

Man, do I feel silly now. I guess the item names also don't show up because they would needlessly brake my concentration and my score would be even suckier then it is. Phew.

Why not just implement the dimensions on the english server without translations?
