So far, I have mixed impressions - your review was excellent and the demo was a joy to play. One thumbs down for this forum, for forcing a verbose reply on me - not very friendly.

I'm about to play the first real level - let's see.

Erm... okay. Based on your review, I started with the impression that there is a viable free-play alternative, one with toned-down options. But it's not so. The free play is really just a cleverly disguised extended demo. With the reset option, all my progress will be erased - and even so, the five tries are then available again only tomorrow!

Fine. I'm just not sure that I will be still here tomorrow. More likely, I'll be at another site, playing an equally good-quality game, without the tackiness of this scheme.

I agree. I think this game has potential but I think the scam you have to try and con people into buying more games is going to lose you more money than it will make you. Most people will not pay for a game like this on their first day of playing it and therefor will not play any more than those 5 games but if they are given a chance to get into the game alot of people will pay for added features. Sorry to say it but unless this changes I think this is the beginning of the end for poor Hammerfest. I feel sorry for those gullible enough to pay who are going to lose their 2 free games a week (2 is pretty poor for $5 I can buy a game that I own for 10 and I would get a lot more fun out of that) when you run out of money to keep it going.

I seriously wouldn't call this a "scam" or a "con", because it is certain that by paying you get a playing experience many times richer then the free play mode. Also, the game lets you know right away what your options are and even gives you the option to play the FULL version of the game for free. How is that scamming? In fact, there are plenty of games out there who put 95% of there gameplay value in the demo, and once you buy the game you realize that the rest of the game just plain sucks. That's what I call a scam. In fact, I even like the Hammerfest paying system since it gives me that good old "arcade game" feel and limits my tries, so every game counts.

What IS the problem however is that the french and spanish version of the game get additional content for the same price, yet the developers without apparent reason refuse to update the content on the english one. Hell, they even refuse to translate the item names which is a job one man could finish in a few coffee breaks! This attitude is simply unexplainable and unbelievably rude, and it's the only reason I feel bad my money ends up in those people's pockets. Other then that, Hammerfest itself is a fantastic game and great value for your money.

g3tafix, Hammerfest is not a scam.

Psychotronic in his review explains very well the payment system of the game, and as Damir says, this system lets you play the entirely game for free. Even more, Hammerfest is a great and fun arcade game .

Damir, we love Hammerfest and do have our reasons for not updating its English version. I agree that is a great game that deserves much more than this, but the reality is that is not possible for the moment.
