Chain kills and big crystals

Pyramid level: 2 476

Hi -- does anyone know exactly what the rules are for getting a big crystal, with regard to chain kills? Specifically, chain kills of the type where an iced fruit falls on or whizzes by another fruit, causing him to simply die. For instance:

1) Fruit 1 needs to be defeated before Fruit 2.
2) You bomb Fruit 1 first, but it whizzes by Fruit 2 and knocks him off. However, Fruit 1 still falls off the screen first because he was moving faster.

At first I assumed that this could still trigger a big crystal, but it never seemed to happen, so I figured that chain kills of this type always invalidated a big crystal. (As opposed to the type of chain kill where you hit two fruits with the same bomb, which works fine.) However, VERY occasionally I do accidentally get a crystal in this manner -- however, it doesn't happen often enough that I've ever been able to figure out the difference between times it works and times it doesn't. Can anyone explain exactly how this mechanic works?

Thanks!

A fruit that gets killed by another fruit flying into it/landing on it is counted as a kill instantly, whereas a fruit killed by a bomb directly counts as a kill when it reaches the bottom of the screen.

So sometimes with a chain kill, sometimes you'll void the big crystal even if the enemies reach the bottom in the correct order!

Yes, getting hit by a fast ice cube is counted as an instant kill, which more often then not loses you the big crystal.

You can use this to your advantage, though, by trying to freeze the 2nd enemy first and let him knock down the one who most go before in the sequence. Of course, this can often backfire when the ice cube just knocks the other one unconscious. I usually use another trick - since ice cubes do not hit affect ice cubes at ll, you can try to freeze the 2nd enemy first with careful placing of the ice bomb sufficiently away so the newly formed ice cube is basically standing still and THEN get rid of the 1st one.

That answers my question perfectly -- and even gives me ideas for getting the big crystal on a few more levels! (Level 41, for instance -- i can use the apple to kill the lemon!) Thanks so much!
