He was trying to cook 3 pies at once-one too close to the top, one on the rack directly over the heating element, and the first two blocked the heat from the last, keeping it from being cooked. The cherry pie burned, the peach boiled over, and the razzleberry was raw.
I guess I assumed screwing up like that was part of growing up, 'cause I had plenty of examples.
My sis put salt instead of sugar into a cake, my bro broke his arm while my dad was barbequing(and it rained on top of the charred remains to boot) and my mom put powdered sugar instead of flour into cake, and, well, you get the picture.
