Don't worry too much if you're not getting too far. It takes awhile to get how to play this game. Best thing to do is play the learning a few more times, until you can beat that relatively easy, and then go through the game CAREFULLY. Don't rush to get items or anything, and avoid the enemies at all costs. You'll eventually learn over time how to do the levels well.
