I was watching a YouTube video of a guy making a Hell run and it seemed like he had two kinds of kicks - one, it seemed, was the normal, regular short kick, and the at times he could make Igor kick further - further up further sideways. Is this a real option or just my eyes fooling me?

It was one of this guy's videos, but I looked for it again and couldn't find the specific level where he did it. It was one of the acrobatic levels.

I don't have the patience to go watch the video, but I suppose the guy was playing in Nightmare Mode. If Igor kicks the bomb while walking in this mode, it will go further.

It's called the diagonal kick, and if this were kung-fu, it would be the Secret Forbidden Technique you have to go on a quest for

Place a bomb
Kick the bomb
IMMEDIATELY upkick the bomb.

So, the button combination is:

Space+Space/down


It's a tricky technique, but once you master it, it's very useful

i didn't watch it, but i know ans'll be right.. one thing i'd like to say:

what you are referring to is not nightmare mode.. that only makes you, the enemies and the fireball faster.. the mode you mean is unstable explosives and only (active) zax and joe have it..

Thanks for that! I saw him do it a few times, and it's unlike the Helmet kick in that it's selective, so I figured it was a technique thing or maybe hitting a modifier when you hit the spacebar.

Oh, forgot about that. My bad.

It is either the:
1. Diagonal kick - you need to finish the quest which allows you to up-kick. After that you place a bomb, kick it and press Down Arrow to kick it up, thus it goes "up and away" from you.
or
2. Kick it twice - Place a bomb, kick it and immediately take a step in the same direction and kick it again. It is very useful if you don't have up-kick and you are with blue bombs below enemie's platform. The bomb also goes farther from you.
