1 - Stay on the same place until it disappears, so you'll not get it.
2 - Move. You'll always make this when there is a item you really need that is almost popping up. However, it will not work on items like umbrellas, Magigian's Hat and other items that makes that item disappear, and in that moment you say "NOOOOOOOOOO!" and feel like .

Due to incredible lags, I survived only 2 levels. I got 23.150 points and didn't progress in any quests or get any items I haven't unblocked.

Sorry -- because you explained what it did, I assumed you meant that you had never gotten it before, and that you thought it was a pearl.

Also, it seems like you'd have caught the name had you gotten it before.
