First time aiming for the game-cube controller, planning to enter PD 43 with 6 lives, entered with only 3, got the joystick with 3 remeining lives (got 500k, and cristal...), Yep got cristal on level 3 (helped a little...), on level 4 I was doing very good, didn't lose even a single life! Then died on level 5 two times (Yep, that's the level I hate the most...), and then got the blue pearl on level 6, and 7 was EASY, on 8 I knew the trap, so... Got it!!!
Besides, got the coeff. 3 I need for the vegetables family (a radish...), and got the last coeff. 4 I need for the exotic! family (alien blob), and got my 6th hot pepper...
Missed a brocoli on 1 of the 43 PD levels, but got a few coeff. 3s:
Artichoke (in the very begining of the game), two new chocolates, and 2 more chocolates I had... also a few stick I need to be unblocked...
After getting out of PD 43, I died on 44 of course, then died twice on 49... and then died on 50 and game ended!
But yet - a lot of good items, and my first glad stick!

is coef 3, so it doesn't appear that often. The other items you mentioned are a bit unlucky to not get though.
