coefficiency?

I keep seeing references to coefficiency of items in all the various lists of items in the game, but no matter how hard I look I can't find anything that explains what coefficiency is. Can someone please explain this to me?

coefficiency = rarity

well, if you miss the abbreviation, it is easy to miss, you have to understand this.
