Hey kids, has this ever happened to you? I hit the black diamond BEFORE I knocked off any fruits, and I got NO CRYSTAL!! This is, as I recall, the third time this has happened since I started playing. What gives?

Which level was it? But anyway, you had to fail the order. There is no other possibility. And remember that pineapple and blobs are falling faster than other fruits when you use blue bomb to kill them. Other thing is that won't work then there will be other fruits than bombinos. Emm.. And I think that would be everything

Do you mean getting a ? Sometimes if there are bombinos on the level it bugs a bit. It hits a fruit, then hits the bombino, then hits the next fruit in order, but the bombino is counted 'dead' when it explodes, not when is hit by the so this results in bombino actually dying after the next fruit.
The same way hits all fruits at once, but the bombinos die later so you need them to be last in order, or first in order and kill them before getting the sunflower (like level 47).
Also peeling a lichie with a snow bomb will ruin the order. You need to kill them with something like blue bomb, or , , use to knock them off the level, etc.

Yes, I mean the . I'm positive I didn't fail the order. I touched nothing until I hit the . It happened this last time on level 34. Time before that was level 47, so a bombino was involved. Another time was level 62, where you gotta hit 'em all twice. So, that may have messed it up. Regardless, I lost big points. I'm just complaining because I feel like, if I hit an item that is supposed to kill everything IN ORDER, regardless of type of fruit, than it should do that! At least the has never failed me! Thanks for the input, folks.

Besides the Bombino part it has never happened to me to fail... sometimes a fruit is hit twice before it disappears from the screen and then the next one, but I still get the crystal.

Things that are sometimes messed up... When you have 2 apricots in order (like on lvl 15.5) and you use Apricot-2 to kill Apricot-1. This means they die in the order they have to. But the small apricots are in the order they appear on the screen! So it's not the 'babies' of A-1 to be first and from A-2 to be second, but the one that falls first spawns the small that have to die first and the one that falls second... you get the picture.
