We've known for a long time now that this day would come eventually. Now that it's here, it almost feels surreal.
Many of you will know what I'm talking about.
This day marks the official death of Flash. You won't be able to continue playing Hammerfest and your other favorite flash games in normal browsers anymore like you used to.
Normally this message to you would be more emotional, filled with melancholy. Recounting the good times I've had in this game. With the community.
You may say it's just a game. But if you're anything like me, this game, that may have been a part of your life since you were a child, will mean so much more to you.
Challenges, competitions, friendships, memories. All of that is this game that revolves around a little snowman trying to rescue his friends and retrieve his carrot nose

This could be the end. But it is thanks to many hard-working and dedicated people that this game will remain more than just memories in our heads.
It all started when many years ago, a small group of players started working on a project that became known as Eternalfest. The team made it their mission to save what exists in the original game, expand upon it and create new content for this amazing game.
A little more than two years ago, Eternalfest was released to the public, with more and more lands being released ever since. The amount of activity that is still present in the community is largely owed to this small group and their invaluable commitment.
The impending end of Flash coming closer and closer, a few players of the EternalTwin team, which, similarly to Eternalfest, works for the survival of numerous MotionTwin games, has worked on and recently released a desktop application, which will allow you to continue playing Hammerfest and your favorite MotionTwin games for the foreseeable future.
A lot has happened, but the future still holds more. The lands of Eternalfest are in the process of being reworked to run on the programming language Haxe, which eventually will eliminate the dependency on Flash.
Especially with the end of Flash, the official Hammerfest servers won't remain online forever. When the time has come, the plan is to save the essential pillars of this game, and integrate it into Eternalfest next to the many other lands. This inclues the game itself of course, the forum with all its history, aswell as players' profiles and fridges. While the backup feature for player profiles is currently temporarily disabled, I highly recommend everyone who doesn't want to lose their progress to use it once it is functional again.
All of this is not to be taken for granted, as without the insane amount of work, dedication and passion from so many people, we would be left with nothing but memories.
For this reason, I wanna close by expressing my gratitude for these people who, for many years, have made this game into what it has been all this time and what it has become.

I truly believe that this company cares about their playerbase beyond the pure monetary value they present as customers.

There is yuuty and BlessedRacc who have created the helpsite Hamm4All, and all the other helping hands who help to improve it and keep it up to date.
There is Kaeldori who has started the Hammerfest Discord server that now is our central communication hub.
There are many other people who, over the years, have gathered and shared information around the game on places like Cadomax, the wiki, or Zaxarinka.

I wanna encourage everyone to continue reaching for the stars and enjoy the journey.
If you want help, would like to chat, or simply thank someone in person, always feel free to join the Discord.
And remember to be grateful for everyone who brought us to where we are.
I wish everyone the best in- and outside of this beatiful game in this still very new year.
Take care and stay healthy.
