To players with no internet

I believe it was electriczax who suggested this, and after testing it, I've found that it does indeed work.

If you're like me and have no home connection but instead have to travel elsewhere to hook up to the internet (which is doubtful, but I'm posting this anyways), there IS something you can do to keep playing Hammerfest once you're back at home, if you're as much of a sad, pathetic Hammerfest junkie as myself.

You CAN open multiple games in separate tabs. Now, as I said in the freaking mother thread, IF MULTIPLE GAMES END AND GET TO THE "CANNOT SAVE" SCREEN, then you are screwed out of the progress gotten from any other game except the last one you played.

HOWEVER:

IF YOU PAUSE EACH GAME BEFORE IT ACTUALLY ENDS - this could mean pausing the game after you lose your last life but before you fall off the screen (or, if you're like me and don't trust yourself to actually remember in time to hit pause before you fall off the screen, just pause it once you're down to your very last life) - these games can all be continued the next time you're on the internet.

THERE IS A CATCH: **ONE** of the games MUST be at the "cannot save" screen. The reason for this is: as soon as you leave the internet connection, the Hammerfest server views you as not being logged in anymore. With that said, when you get back to the internet after playing (and pausing all except one of your tabbed games), when you log out and relog back in, the actual ended game will be saved, but also, it re-establishes your connection to the server, allowing you to finish all of your puased/nearly-ended games, which will then be saved normally.

TO SUM UP:

1. Open as many games as you want in different tabs.
2. Leave internet connection.
2. Play all of them at home (except one) until your last life, and pause them.
3. Play the exception game at home until the end, until you get the "cannot save" screen.
4. Get back on the internet.
OPTIONAL: 5. I usually open a completely new window and test a page (google's fine) to make sure my connection is actually established before I mess around with Hammerfest.
6. Log out of your "cannot save" game, relog back in, and start a new game in this tab to save the progress from your game.
7. Play the rest of your games until you lose all of your lives, and they should save normally, since you are now reconnected to the server.

WITH THAT SAID: I accept no liability if this doesn't work on your comp. All I know is that this is what I do, and it works.

Also, just a warning: the reason I say to pause on your last life instead of trying to pause between losing your last life and falling off the screen, is because sometimes in your focus/reverie-of-reaching-a-new-hell-level, you completely forget until it's too late to pause. I played a nightmare game in which I got ANOTHER green mushroom and a "shallots" (coeff. 5). I was late on the draw, and so it went to the cannot save screen. However, in one of the other games I played, I was late on the draw again because I was too involved in the game, and that one also went to the cannot save screen, rendering my green mushroom/shallots game void. So just keep that in mind.

Anyways, sorry this was so long, but I felt it would be helpful to those who are in my particular internet position.

I'll also add this as a warning of sorts, now that I think of it:

The above method works well, but unfortunately, based on what I know of how the saving of games works, if you've got 10 paused games open, and NONE of them to the "cannot save" screen, and for whatever reason your computer freezes up or shuts off or restarts for any reason, you lose ALL progress in ALL games.

I have, however, found out that if your game is at the cannot save screen, and your computer shuts off (without the browser being closed), then the next time you log in and start a game, that last game's progress will be saved.

Just putting that out there.

It is not "shut off". Usually if you use a laptop/notebook and it goes out of battery it "Hibernates", thus saving everything to the point it was. If your laptop/notebook is not configured properly you may end up losing it all.

Also you can play every game trying to pause after you die (you can use the "C" button, it is closer than "P") but if you miss one game, then you start pausing on your last life.

Also you may try (if you want to) to play all the games but none of them reaching the "cannot save" point. Then you log in, start a new game, pause it, and then finish the other games. You may try it with two games and do it if you don't get any coef.5 item. Thus you won't be mad of not having the items you got in the game :)
