What do you aim more in the game: to get more items or a higher score?
To answer it the best way, I've made a thingy:
I (do/don't) sacrifice points for items.
I (do/don't) sacrifice points for lives.
I (do/don't) sacrifice items for points.
I (do/don't) sacrifice items for lives.
I (do/don't) sacrifice lives for items.
I (do/don't) sacrifice lives for points.

And if you can, explain why!

But I'll answer though you could have found many answers...
I (do/don't) sacrifice points for items. --> I do if the item is really rare and missing in my fridge; in most cases I don't have control over this - I try to get as good as every item, and there are moments when I miss points for an item. But when I can get 100k points or a not too interesting item, I take the points
I (do) sacrifice points for lives. --> Lives are worth more than anything else. But when you play for points (Pyramid Ranking), you might want to get an orange 90000-points-crystal instead of a life...

I (don't) sacrifice lives for items. --> Exception: Rare (interesting) items. But those situations are of course a lot rarer than these items...
