Sandy man online mode

Pyramid level: 2 476
Sunday 07 Jun 2009 23:21
It would be a fun feature if we could use two player mode to play with others over Internet not just on the same computer as it does now. To make it even more fun so would players have to finish a quest in order to participate in the Sandy man online mode.

One way to do it is, if a player connects to the 'two player mode' so would he/she be able to see a list on players which he/she would be able to join.
One should be able to choose if they would like to be the Sandy man or Igor when joining. Now if two players want to say, play Igor then maybe their names should be displayed above the Igors or we could have it so that only one can be Igor and one can be the Sandy man.

When a player joins in it should say "<name> has arrived." Although I don't know if player one can play around until a second player arrives or if player one would have to wait until the second player joins.

Regarding items and scoring points to achieve higher rank in the pyramid so am I a bit unsure what will happen. Either nothing happens when the game ends or each player gets what they collected.

About the 109 , of course so will both players have to spend snowflakes in order to join.

I don't have any ideas on how the quest for this would go but if this suggestion ever would be implemented I could come up with ideas. :)

If there anything is unclear I will try my best to explain it better.

The items should go for the one who got them, but...
this idea is impossible to acomplish, because if you play over internet there will be certain "lag", because after you move, the data about that movement will be sent to a server, where the game is played and you will receive information about what the other player has done. So basically there will be 0.4-2+ seconds delay with your action and the action in game. And in this game you can day many many times for 0.4 seconds. Besides, there's a security issues and what will happen if there is a coef.6 item and you are not the one who takes it? I know you will feel bad and you may even ruin the game because of that. It would be a good idea but it won't happen. I play with a friend of mine over the internet - I connect with an application to her computer and I see what she sees, so I move how I want to. But I get the picture with the delay I mentioned and thus we are not able to even complete the game, despite the fact that I got the pyramid key and she has beaten Nightmare Tuber.

Good idea, but as others has said, it would be very hard to accomplish successfully, and the admins have said they don't plan to update this game much more, if ever.

Yes, the idea would be pretty good!
Unfortunately it is impossible because Hammerfest won't receive any more update and do not forget that, even if you save games on Internet, Hammerfest is an "offline" game (you don't directly use Internet while playing) ;)

I'd say there should be an Online Pyramid. ;)
And there is still 1 point item and 1 effect item. One player collects the item, BOTH players get it. Simple as that.
I wanna play online with Joe. ;)

Yeah, but he doesn't want to play with you :D.
And it won't be fair for 1 item to be counted for both players.

Also, if one person has a quest completed that someone else doesn't, would the items/skills that the quest unlocks appear or not?

Certainly not. How should the game know which players are playing there? If I visit your home and we play together, your account will be the one being played, not mine. And no one will know that I am the second player, so your account gets the items and quests (but not the best level afaik :P )

[cite]Yeah, but he doesn't want to play with you. :D cite]

LAWL. ;)
Yeah, that system is a bit quirky, but itll cause massive arguements if sum1 gets the.. Gold Mushroom before sum1 else.

Also, if the players can't communicate between each other, there may be problems with getting the big crystals.

How should they be unable to communicate? Is there any way (better: any not too complicated and therefore useless way) to play the 2p game on two computers? It should be only one...
