No deaths before 54.1
Probable

on 54.4 (don't remember getting it, but don't remember playing 54.5 either)

on 54.6 (somehow reached without dying)
Mediocre performance on Metals 1 and 2 offset by 2M points + CRISTAL

on Metal 5 prompted me to commit immediate suicide on Metal 6. And a good thing too, because it gave me enough time to get the

that appeared
After that, I used the PD 54 Original Footage guide on Youtube. It's good for warning me about what's coming next, but has the disadvantage of interrupting my rhythm. Had a bunch of rookie deaths, two of them because I didn't know what the new kind of force field does and two on Tomb 4 because I killed one of the strawberries early. Made it through Tomb 7 without a death (despite the spikes staying motionless for a much shorter time than in the Youtube video), but died twice on Tomb 8 because Igor's fall lagged while the falling spikes did not.
Went into Tomb 9 with current life + 2 extra lives. First two deaths were due to excellent teamwork from the lemon and pineapple, and maybe couldn't have been avoided. However, on my last life I actually made it past the pineapple and got the black bombs. Really should have copied the Youtube video's strategy. Instead, I didn't know up-kicking through the force field would send a black bomb right up to the orange; so I jumped up. The pineapple saw its chance, and gleefully did one last stomp...
Question: On Tomb 7, why didn't the spikes stay still for as long as they do on the Youtube video?
Recommendation: Edit the Youtube video. Cut out the parts where the player pauses the game to visit cadomax.
Tomb of Tuber, will I ever see you again?
