If your FPS is too low in PD51, you won't see any items (e.g. on levels 2, 4, 5, 7). The cutoff is probably the same as that for the , but I can't imagine why they would do this on purpose. It has happened to me in two recent (particularly laggy) games ... I know it is specific to PD51 because I saw items in all the other levels in both games.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that, but I'll try and answer anyway. When you get a , any bombinos will instantly stop moving and explode, giving and if appropriate, a big crystal. It can be a bit dangererous if there are a lot of bombinos - be sure you can escape the explosion before you get it

I don't know if killing multiple bombinos like this will cause multiple letters to appear on the next level.

The past two games on 51.1, the effect item was . There doesn't seem to be enough room to squeeze past it without picking it up ... I waited for it to poof, but then there isn't enough time to reach the point item. And I have a feeling if you pick it up, you won't be able to cross the spike bridge unless you have flying. Soo, when appears on this level, (unless I am wrong and you can squeeze past it), it is impossible to get the point item without killing yourself.

The translation of is actually correct ... and it says this on the English server, too. The text for the on .net is "You won 5 extra lives!!" Just translation errors ... unsurprisingly, the French server has it right.

Have you tried dropping down past the item's spawn point before it appears, and lurking under its ledge? That way it's easy to jump up and get it if you want it, but just as easy to ignore it if you don't.

Few more discoveries/tips to add:

On 56, if you accidentally fall off the side, you can get back in through one of the "stairsteps" on the bottom corners of the box. Possibly requires or N. Mode. I guess it works on the same principle as the embarrassing falling death you can get on 64 (inadvertently bomb-jumping out through the side) -- but for a useful purpose!

It can be beneficial to go for a double-kill on 6 and skip the PD in favor of getting two letters on 7.

On 86, if you jump up quickly and send the pear off to the right, it will hit at least one watermelon more often than not.

Oh wow, that's clever. How stupid of me not to think of such a simple solution !

To sort out the issue with the bonus crystals, here is a list of all levels that have crystals that spawn after the level begins, and that can be reached with an umbrella. There aren't very many. If you grab a on the level before one of these, or a two levels before it, be sure to let us know whether it lets you skip to the crystal spawn, and I'll update this list with a YES or NO.

Keep in mind that 0.5 is the only one that is truly the end of the PD, so any of the others will probably just act normally, and this most likely answers our question. Nonetheless, I will track any new info we find.

I'm not sure if this is already known or not, I'm sure many do know, but heed:

If a pineapple throws you off a platform, you will not stop spinning out of control until you hit something. In other words, no matter how high you're falling from, if there's nothing to catch you before the bottom (even slightly to the left or right) you will die.
