More Item Data

Le Panthéon ! 1

I want to ask all of you two things:

1 - does it really matter if you get a Coef.6 item once every 22 000 items or once every 21 500 items? Is it going to change your gamestyle in some way?
2 - do you intentionally want to waste so many people so much time just to prove that your random numbers are different than the random numbers we have from the French server?

Now think about it before I close/delete this thread.

Zax ... always comes around to talk some sense into the rest of us. I have been beginning to think along the same lines, but I don't think I'd be bold enough to put it so bluntly. Suffice it to say you have a point.

We have already proven that the French numbers are accurate, and I don't think there is any practical use to adjusting them by a few percents, especially given that we will probably never be satisfied with the coef.6 percentage.

That said, if people are determined to expend their efforts toward proving some sort of point, they should be welcome to continue submitting their data.

I don't know, I'm ambivalent. I can only say that you should not go so far as to delete this thread, in the name of preserving our ideas. :)

Theoretically you are right, zax :)
But does everything we do have to make sense? If so, I should stop playing hfest from now on. You too.

I guess we could track down the programmers and just ask them what the probabilities are. :D They might even answer. (Has anyone tried?)

30191 makes a good point, though: We're already spending our free time playing a flash game where we make a snowman run around bombing fruit. It can't really get much more frivolous than that.

Personally, I've found that this experiment adds some extra interest. Even if it's a waste of time, we're not forcing anyone to participate, and it isn't like the thread is off-topic/disruptive/full of spoilers or anything. ;)

It's up to you whether to let it continue, of course, but I think it's safe to say that we'll quit on our own sooner or later.

@Nemo: If you want to make a page like that, that would be neat! Don't feel obligated if you're having second thoughts about keeping this up, though. ^^;

I was also thinking of removing all the individual zodiac potions and constellations from the list, in favor of having one item at the bottom -- "Zodiac Sign (any)" -- which could apply to any of them, since they're all coefficient 3. It would shorten things up a bit.

Why quit playing Hammerfest? :O
There's a great sense in it - To have fun!

And as Vanilleon just said, counting up the items can be fun and interesting to some people ... it's like a mini-game on the side. Let them have 1014 :)

Agreed. Admittedly, some of us just want to stick around until we finally get to see some coefficient 6's. That'd make me happy, somehow. :)

@Vanilleon: Yes, I say you should bundle the Zodiacs (into "Zodiac constellation" and "Zodiac potion"). That'd be a great spacemaker, and I think 1104 has been feeling lonely. ;)

Zax certainly does have a valid (and blunt) point. I 'spose there really isn't any need for this thread to remain open. Anyone who wishes can continue to send info, but there's no need to bother yourself with it since the data we have is as accurate as any will ever be. I thank everyone who has participated greatly! Basically what this project was created for has been accomplished, now you can go back to your daily hammerfesting. :D

Well... in my opinion the basic idea was to get better results for the coeff 6s ;) So we would have had to continue the next few years xD

I'll continue to collect and process data if people are interested and willing, but seriously... Why would you want to do it? :innocent:

I do have a related question, before this gets closed. Just curious, how do we know which items are which coefficients ? MT has not posted this anywhere, to my knowledge ... Did the Frenchies perhaps keep track of each individual item when they gathered their data ? O_o
