In Sky Town, in the little village with all the doors and critters, there is an isolated grey critter on the next screen. When you approach him, it shows how much money you have. Is there any significance to this ?

I installed DOSBox, but I still can't get Bubble Bobble to work properly. (I get an error when I run INSTALL.BAT, and if I just open BUBBLE.EXE, an error saying the program would run better from DOS terminates the program when level 1 starts.)UFS!!!

P.S. It uses my computer's default DOS window, instead of DOSBox.

@John, getting DOSBox to work is fairly complicated if you don't know how ... Firstly, you can't just open the game file; you have to open DOSBox and then run the game from there. Secondly, you have to mount the drive first before you can access the game file. This requires a basic knowledge of DOS commands.

After installing DOSBox: In your Start menu, go to Programs > DOSBox > Configuration > Edit Configuration

At the very bottom of the Notepad file, in the [autoexec] section, paste the following two lines. This will make it so DOSBox starts out in the right folder:

mount C C:\Progra~1\Games
C:

Replace "C:\Progra~1\Games" with your own destination folder, wherever you installed Bubble Bobble. ~1 replaces the rest of the name for long folder names, because there is an 8-character limit in DOS. (Putting these lines under [autoexec] makes it so you don't have to type them every time you open DB.)

Then save and close Notepad.

When you open DOSBox, you may have to type something like "cd bubble~1" to Change the Directory to where Bubble Bobble is.

Then just type "install" to install, and "bubble" to play. Hopefully everything will work fine once you're in DB ... let me know if you encounter another problem. :)

Figured out the key element I was missing in AUS. I'm now at 31%, with plenty left to do.

Found this list of supposedly-good freeware games ... I haven't tried most of them, but I thought you guys might like to have a look-see and say yea or nay. I have played (in the past) N and Within a Deep Forest, both of which I can tell you are brilliant games. Exquisitely designed and fun as PD54. ;) I strongly recommend them.

@nemo: Before you posted those directions, I got Absolute Pinball to work. But, I didn't get Bubble Bobble to work until I tried following the directions you posted.

In other words:
I got it to work now. :youpi:
Thank you! 8)

Guys, that vizzed.com link I posted gives you links to pretty much ALL the old Nintendo games, INCLUDING Bubble Bobble. And they don't need to be downloaded...they run on a browser-based emulator. So have fun. I just beat Mega Man 3 again the other day.

Is the ending to CS really that depressing? I know it's more realistic than anything else... But...

Don't spoil it, some of us haven't beaten CS yet. ;)

@Joe, that site is a great find. But I noticed that the game plays run on some sort of site currency. How does that work ?

The Touhou 6 link was removed. I don't support piracy and I won't let you exchange links to games like that. Eventhough I can close my eyes for old platform games that are playable online I won't allow it for newer and still payed games.

Who said something about Donkey kong? Do you know where the game origins from? Here's your answer. :D :D :D
