A video from year 1992

Le Panthéon ! 1

@zax: That was certainly not too far off topic. I wouldn't even say it was off topic, because it is just the way of living that is being propagated in this video.

@bully: Hard to explain what I think and what I think electriczax thinks (sorry, I had to write that - just for the beautiful sentence construction). There are different forms of love - Eros, Philia and Agape (and I just read of Stoika, which seems to refer only to actions, such like a hobby). Eros and Philia are forms of love you give only to a special group of persons (if you want to know more, look it up yourself - I don't want to say something wrong). But Agape is - as far as I understand it - something like general respect. In the Bible it is the love God gives to all humans and that we should spread out, so we all should respect each other as human beings, which is also true without any religious background (see zax's post!). You won't see that guy who jumps on chicken as your friend (I wouldn't either), but you can respect him as a human and thus help him when he has problems. I think this is a very hard goal to reach; I am trying, but I am certainly not faultless. But if everyone would try to spread this kind of love, there would be no one jumping on chicken ;) As electriczax says: Hate corrupts us, and then we are not better than the ones we hate. It is fighting fire with fire.

[This time I don't comment on this text having become too long. It is not too long, it is just long enough. I could have written a lot more.]

30191, that was a perfect explanation of what I mean :). You don't have to love his actions, but you can love the human being. People are doing bad things because they haven't met the other side. They haven't seen enough love and they do not believe in it. They don't know what you feel when you do something good. The joy that fills your body when you see someone smile, instead of cry...
I can go on like this forever ^.^

People need to seriously think of their actions before they commit them, cause you never know who or what they might hurt. I am at heart, a softhearted guy, I'd prefer to love the world then hate it. But the way that other kids (I am a teenager) my age act towards me causes me to change over. Last Sunday at my church, I went to the meeting of my youth group. I'm new there. I sat down between two kids, a girl on my right and a boy (and his friends) on my left. Immediatly, the girl moved. Then all the boys stood up and moved to the other side of the room. It hurt me that they would get up and move away from me. Did the mean to hurt me? No, I don't think so. Like many other people, they just weren't thinking. People don't want to kill the fish, or the tigers, or the ozone layer intentionally, but they fail to see that what they are doing causes that, or the weight of 1052 1051 1000 1017 1009 1008 outwieghs everything.

BTW, this is one of the better discussions I've ever seen on a forum.

i have to agree with zax and myself on this one.. no matter how bad or cruel the things are that people do, you shouldn't think in the same way about them. for example in the netherlands, very recently (last week) a girl (Milly Boele) had been missing. it turned out yesterday that she was murdered by a neighbour (who was a policeman) and immediately you get reactions on forums like "i hope they hurt him pretty bad in prison" and "it's too bad that torturing isn't allowed anymore" which on the one hand is understandable, but on the otherside that kind of reactions make me wonder what kind of persons they are themselve. of course this kind of murders make you angry, i get angry of it as well, but such a response? makes me wonder whether they shouldn't get help as well and indeed, it makes you no better than the one who actually committed the crime!
luckily there are also people on forums who tell them so and usually the persons that are really involved (think of family and friends) are a lot more "understandable" (can't find a better word for it) and they can do something with explanations and motives. for example help them in their grieve and get on with their life how hard that may be.

You are right I should love the humans and not their actions but I would kick his ass very hard if I see him  seriously I don't wish him any bad things but the ones he deserves... I just say I hate him because I see what he does I don't know what kinda person he is so I can't say much about him but I talk about the things he does. And yet you are right but I just CAN'T STAND watching harmless animals getting tortured because someone is a monster and likes torturing defenseless animals and I the same for humans - I don't like defenseless humans being mocked just because they are good.

And I don't remember your name but the guy who told us the story about that girl and the killer... I may have misunderstood your last sentence but do you say that there is no problem for the parents of the killed child to " go on with their lives " ? If you say that just imagine your most important person getting killed ( I hope nothing like that happens ever ). Then what would you do ? Continue with your life like nothing happened? And I'm sorry if I misunderstood something and sounded rude, I didn't mean it!

you misunderstood me;) take a look at

how hard that may be
of course it's very hard for them, but knowing the motives and underlying aspects of how the killer came to his terrible actions can help the process.. hope i made myself more clear now?

I'm wanting to ask... let's think you're in the following situation: Theres a guy who says he wants to kill a girl and he have the chance... there are policemen making the negotiations, trying to stop him of making it... you're a sniper, you have the chance to kill him before him kill the girl, if you wait too much you will lose the chance... then will you kill him, saving the girl and not waiting the negotiations... or you will wait, losing the chance to kill him and leaving the chance to him kill the girl?

I don't know if it have relation with the topic, but i think it have... :?

I don't mean to foul up your question, but I'd need to know more information before I chose to kill. Is this guy insane, meaning is he likely to kill the girl for no reason? Why does he have her hostage? Do any of the people involved mean anything to me?

I would shoot at his hand. As a sniper, this shouldn't be difficult, no one is killed, especially the girl is saved and since there are a lot of people - especially me and the policemen - he can be taken to a hospital quite quickly. In the worst case, he won't be able to use his hand again, in the best case everyone is happy.

Oh, sorry. This way does not work if they are standing on the edge of a bridge (actually ONLY in that case). But then shooting him would be a bad idea either. So the only thing I could do about it is to call the fire service so they can try to save her if she is falling.
