The hardest to beat this game is to pass the 90's and reach Tuber. Then defeating Tuber itself is not so complicated, once you've observed his zoning patterns.

I remember having spent tons of games to reach level 101, and then I beat Tuber something like the 3rd time I met his ugly face.

Now, with further training, I rarely lose 1 life to him.

I myself consider working on a good score run again. Yesterday I successfully tested the route I'll be taking and got to 8,1M with that, so in a real score run the result should be decent if I manage to do a good run

@maxetcam - I have seen Tuber three times is all, and been *this close* the last two times. The first time we met I didn't know what to do so I just jumped until i got hit too much.

It's those dang levels 92 and 95 that whittle my lives from like 8 or 10 down to zilch.

Level 92 is actually pretty easy once you know your path, I rarely lose lives in it. 95 on the other hand just takes a long time so you've got to hurry up there
I try to get down on the left side first incase the effect item is something useful

I've watched Zax's video several times, but still manage to mess it up; best I can do is two lives on that level. Getting better at it though!


Also finally unlocked ...funny to think there's still some mid-coeffs I'm unlocking after all this time.

Unless I have a helpful effect item, I always lose 1 life at level 95.
The other level where I often lose 1 life is 96, due to lack of time as well. Level 96 is maybe one of the fewest levels I found easier in nightmare mode.
Then, if you ask me to go through level 98, I will surely lose 1 or most lives, due to the lack of training because I prefer going through the 97 PD.

Fabianh, I love the way you suggest that 8.1M is below "decent" on your own score scale.

Well, at the moment I'm at my father's house and only have access to my laptop, so I can't really attempt score runs till the weekend. Anyway, today I got two C5s in PD0; my third Octopus in Ink in level 0.0, and my seventh Tuber's Bag in level 0.0.0.0.0. My laptop proceeded to lag very badly, and the game was over by the end of PD23
Still, it is nice to see some progress in my fridge again, although I'm still waiting for my Manda

Got my sixth big bag of money, and was getting those sweet double points level after level until a pair of shoes popped up right in front of me and the x2 disappeared.

...and managed to get to Tuber again - didn't beat him but got to practice knocking some sense into him.

I beat my high score today, in a normal game: 2.87M
Now that I am regularly above 2.5M, I should focus on a few additional orders, so that I reach the extra at 3M in my future games. Talking about points, I am still waiting for my 1st Meluzine key.

And I now have 5 pads unlocked : (plus )

Since I have still no evil liquor, I only miss the super NES controller from PD2 (N64 pad being clearly out of my current skills ).
I also miss 3 ice-cream keys and the 2 ninjutsu awards to unlock, that should be achieved in the coming weeks.

Unfortunately, no rare items since something like 3 weeks...

I've had 2 Meluzine Keys. I went ages and ages without the Rusty Key and then boom-boom-boom I get them regularly now. Not common, but still much more often than otherwise. It leads me to believe that there are more quest locks than meets the eye.
