Levels which do not exist? Can you provide a link to a specific example?

You may be thinking of a video showing the "original" hammerfest game on the french server, which had some differences in level design.

I've always found cadomax really helpful for levels, orders, etc.

For items, families, and quests, use Twinpedia. I know all the non-C6 items on Cadomax don't work for whatever reason.

Is there an easy way or hidden spot to get Book of Mushrooms and Book of Stars? I REALLY need one now and it's never appeared to me like in 2 years of play or something ...
