Browser War

Le Panthéon ! 1

Hey guys, it's obviously important to have the best browser possible for the game to function as best as possible. What browser do you use, and what do you recommend?

Personally, I use Google Chrome most of the time, because it is stable and does not usually lag. However, sometimes it goes "super-speed" and Flash sometimes crashes.

Therefore, my second choice would be Opera 11.

How about you?

I've always used Firefox because I'm too lazy to switch browsers. It works just fine to me, but sometimes my crappy internet makes everything laggy.

Same with Internet Explorer 7, which I use from time to time.

I do never have laggy games :)
Browser never crashes and 16k inet seems to be enough ^^

Once you start the game the internet speed doesn't matter, so the issue is somewhere else. As far as I know the game runs equally on each browser there is (as long as it supports flash applications), but the specifications of your PC/laptop, the programs you've installed, the addons to the browser you've installed... these are the things that may mess up your game.

Every time my internet's kbps gets low enough, things go haywire. And I always make sure everything's closed when I'm playing.

LOL kbps :p *mbps

Also, I actually disconnect my internet when I play, there seems to be no effect on gameplay..

But haven't people noticed that some browsers are laggier than others, is there some super-secret super-speed browser I don't know about?

You should listen to what zax says, i only can add: i don't know ANY browser that supports flash, i don't think Adobe would allow it. All browsers i know just supports flash plugins by Adobe. So what zax said is right, the browser should not make much difference. And like he said the game makes only a connection at the beginning and at the end, so any inet connection will do it. So you should better watch out for the CPU and the running programs and the flash plugin.

@jawsdark I naturally mean the Flash plug-in. What I'm saying is while I realize internet connection speed has no impact, the browser's size and scripting varies the smoothness of play. Chrome is better because it is slimmer and is running on a better engine: WebKit. Opera's Kestrel is fine, but Opera is a little bloated from all the add-ons.

IE and Firefox are not even in the race.

Probably right, but where I play Firefox works much better than Chrome. Also I played on a friend of mine's laptop - firefox was crashing all the time, while Chrome and IE worked perfectly.

Internet connection has no impact. Probably you have some software that runs when your connection gets low or the vice versa - when those processes run, then the connection becomes low. Try disconnecting from internet when you play.

I play on Firefox, and whenever I let someone "Check" their Gmail during a game, game play gets SUPER choppy and darn near impossible to play. :dontcare:
When I let them use Google chrome, its okay. ;)

Do you let them check their mail on Chrome while you're playing on FF?
