Le Panthéon ! 1

Not sure if this has been posted, or even if it's on Cadomax...

In the "temple before Tuber" (PD51) on the level that's got the fallen block and the bunch of crystals that appear, there's a black crystal that's covering up some spikes. What I used to do was get REALLY close in order to get the black crystal, but not touch the spikes. I have since discovered that you can use a bomb to blow up those spikes, thus allowing you to walk right through to black crystal with minimal fuss.

If you get sucked into a portal at the exact same time as you pick up the last 1017, does the 50K bonus still happen? When I tried it, the answer seemed to be "no," but I can't be positive that the last shard didn't simply expire right at that instant.

I found out, on my last Nightmare Mode game, that it IS possible to survive the exit from PD72! (A good thing, too, since I needed every last life for Tuber.) Still not sure how, though. Igor was overlapped by a whole lot of oranges from both sides, it seemed... Also, considering that the enemies can start in two or three random configurations whenever you enter a level, I'm not optimistic that there's a sure way to survive every time.

This might be common knowledge, but here's a handy strategy for screens where you have to bring the fruit down through multiple platforms with blue bombs: There's a way to depose an enemy two levels above you without having to jump up a level. Position yourself under a vertical wall adjacent to the enemy's platform, and jump into it while kicking up. The bomb will knock the enemy down to the level above you, while you will land back on your original platform (instead of one level up from where you started, next to the stunned fruit). You can immediately knock it down to your level with a normal up-kick, and down again with a plain old kick. That can save a lot of looping around from top to bottom, e.g. on levels like 95 and 54.2.

It can also be useful with regular bombs. Say for example that you need to freeze an enemy that's four squares above you instead of the standard three. A single up-kick isn't high enough to get the bomb onto the platform, while a double up-kick would bring you up TOO high, potentially resulting in a fruit-to-the-face. If there's a wall on either side of the enemy's platform that you can jump into (guaranteeing that the fruit won't touch you, since they conveniently stop at walls), you can freeze it safely with a double up-kick.

Oh hey, it is! It has the pears and black bomb-changer and everything! XD Good observation. I wonder if it means anything.

Just don't move while falling, I died only once there.
About 82.0, obviously it's like 22 in training, since 22 is same as 0 :)

@V: Nice technique ! :) But I have something to add. Just as you can create a surrogate up-kick (when you haven't found all the potions yet) by normal-kicking the bomb at the very last instant, you can create a surrogate wall-up-kick (when there are no walls around, or you don't feel like endangering yourself) by up-kicking the bomb at the very last instant. Fatal does this in 1008 33 's video, several times, starting around 15:40. :)

Aha. I sort of noticed that, and assumed that he had 13. But keeping a powerup for any length of time in Hell isn't very likely, so I should have known better. XD

He also makes good use of the diagonal kick, I see. Both of those techniques seem to require some precise timing, but perfecting them certainly sounds worthwhile.

Another minor strategy: On Level 86, I've found that the best way to kill the leapers is to lurk under the lemons' ledge. They always seem to get under there sooner or later, and when they do, it's easy to trap them with green bombs in the narrow space.

What's even more fun is when one of them gets stuck in an infinite loop, right about where the number "6" is here. Makes them much more manageable.

Say for example that you need to freeze an enemy that's four squares above you instead of the standard three.

There is another way to do that. If you press space a moment before you press down, you will send the bomb 1 square higher. It will go a bit to the side, but that shouldn't be problem. Combining this technique with the 'kick the bomb up at the last moment' technique can give you a bit more leeway with the timing.
