I think, rare items appear as usual (let's say after 100 regular items). So what's the difference, if you get 100 different items, or each of 50 items twice?

Of course, when you have less items to appear, it's more likely that exactly THAT one will appear istead of another.

If you don't do much quests you will receive less items. So after let's say 200 games and you get 30 coef. 5 items all of them may be the Croissant and the two books, so you may unblock them. However after you unblock them and you finish more quests you will still be getting those items and you will hate when you have 17 95 while you want OTHER coef. 5 items :). So in master plan you won't gain anything by waiting.

Au contraire, Zax ... While you are correct in that your item counts will end up being unbalanced, I have been thinking about this lately as well, and I have to point out that the idea isn't all bad. By holding out on quests, you will find the two books much more quickly, since there are not many more coef-5 items floating about. All you'd need to wait for is each book (or even just the BoS) once before you start completing quests. That way you could reap the effects of the books much earlier on, without having to face the consequences of a book-cluttered fridge. It is the only benefit I can think of, but it is certainly a large one. I've been playing for three months now and still haven't found the BoS, so I sometimes wish I had taken the opportunity while I had it.

(p.s. Forcing the BoM early might not be such a great idea in the long run, because the coef-2 blue mushroom could end up invading your games and taking the place of other items. But that is a moot point.)

I know that if you kill multiple enemies with one bomb you get more letters on the next level, but what if you kill them with an item? Does it make a difference?

I think it only works with bombs, but I could be wrong.

Would there be any benefit to completing as few quests as possible when you first start your game?

There's this guy,Valentino2 (Yeah,I know Im addicted with him,but he's mysterious!)
Not posting his link,he'll be in the HoF on Tuesday.
So,he has missed out on a lot of items, gone straight to Paperwork and Metallic Water, and has some nice progress. And the Ankhel Jewel. And the carrot. And Tuber's Key.
Interesting, since two weeks ago he was in level 3.

gmnemo you are right, but I don't think the books should be your only goal. I reached HoF before I got the book of stars. I was about to beat Tuber before that, but I got it... And I have 95 (17) and 99 (10) plus 7-8 of the other Coef.5 effect items. I find it much better than 15 of the books and about 5 of the other items :). Book of stars won't make you a better player, it will just make the things slightly easier.

pigletto: It depends on the item. First of all, the enemies have to be killed, nothing else. So 32 93 86 87 (and others) won't help you.
And the second problem is that they have to be killed by the same source, for example one bomb, or one wind ball or one fireball, ... So if you get 38 or 84 and it hits one enemy per shot, you won't get more than one letter. If one shot hits two enemies, you get two letters. Usually, killing many enemies together in attempt to get more letters is easier with bombs than with items (there are, of course, exceptions 37 )
Oh, and afaik 19 doesn't give more letters either.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense. I guess it's probably safe to assume any item that gives 1008 instead of 1000 won't give you more than one letter on the next level.
